Some residents of the University hall (Katanga) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are lacing their boots to get the president of the hall, Mr. Ekpor Enyimah Ackah impeached for gross neglect of duties.
Mr. Ackah, a level 400 Agricultural Science student, has come under fire for shirking his responsibilities as president of the hall and leaving for the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) congress at Wa without informing the executives of the hall.
Mr. Samuel Mensah, leader of the concerned Katangees, in an interview with Focus fm during “Campus Fila,” said the president was not present to address freshmen who were solicitous at hearing from him during their orientation.
The aggrieved students, who are putting this to bear, said they are preparing to petition the Dean of Students on the matter for advice for which they would drag Mr. Ackah to court.
According to the concerned Katangees, Mr. Ackah should stand down before he is impeached by Katangees.
In a quick rebuttal, Mr. Ackah disclosed that there is no constitutional provision for which he has violated and anybody who is calling for his head should produce evidence.
He said he will not only honour Katanga hall but also to “shed my blood for it, to cut off my head,” adding that his motive for contesting for the position of the NUGS boss was to bring a greater honour not only to KNUST but to Katanga hall.
Mr. Ackah was a candidate at the just ended NUGS congress which took place at Wa in the Upper West region.
