He succeeds the out-going Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarka whose appointment officially ends on September 30, 2010.
The ceremony which is expected to be held at the Great Hall at the University’s campus will be chaired by the Chancellor of the University, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The ninth Vice Chancellor is expected to address members of the University Council, Vice Chancellors from sister universities, Provosts, members of the Convocation, Senior and Junior Staff, ministers of state, as well as well wishers.
Professor Ellis , a renowned Food Scientist; Researcher and a Consultant, rendering consultancy services to major food processing companies in the country, was born 52 year ago at Saltpond, Central Region.
He worked at the Food Science and Technology Section of the Biochemistry Department of the University for 13 years and rose to become the Head.
He obtained a PhD Degree in Food Science from McGill University, Canada in 1993 having graduated with BSc Biochemistry, Second Class Upper from KNUST in 1987. Prof. Ellis holds a certificate in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Applications from Beckman Instruments Incorporated,
Canada, 1990; Certificate in Principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) from National Resources Institute, Britain 2001; and Certificate in Cassava Production and Processing from EMBRAPA, Brazil, 2005.
Prof Ellis has a wife and two children. His hobbies include athletics and playing of lawn tennis.
