“People need to learn that if you are doing a sex scene in a movie, it has to be tastefully done because movie making is an art and therefore it has to be done artistically.”
Speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com on Tuesday October 12 after the press preview of her latest work, 6 Hours to Christmas, Shirley advised that people shouldn’t just copy such things because others are doing it.
“If you are going to do a sex scene and its related to the story, then fine but if you think that you are going to do a story and if you omit the sex scenes and the story can still stand, don’t use it,” she stressed.
The Africa Movie Academy Award(AMAA) winning director said the major problem is that some producers are using sex scenes as a selling tool, a practice she said was wrong adding, “It is going to make our industry suffer.”
Her twisted comedy, 6 Hours to Christmas which she said is made up of real life stories of ‘some people’ offered her the opportunity to do something different.
The adventurous Shirley told Myjoyonline.com that it took her three weeks to shoot the movie and wanted to do something different from her previous productions.
