Deputy Tourism Minister, Kobby Acheampong has attacked the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie for his rancorous outburst on President Mills’ grade B rating in Foreign Policy by the Africa Watch Magazine.
Africa Watch Magazine has released a survey on the performance of Ghanaian politicians including President John Atta Mills.
President Mills was graded separately in five different policy areas; Foreign Policy- B, Economic Development- C+, Social Interventions- C-, Political Developments- B, and National Security B-.
In an interview with Citi News on Tuesday, October 19, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John said President Mills does not deserve the Grade B rating given him. According to him, the rating is a contradiction as per the President’s performance in his last eighteen months in office.
Sir John added that the country’s foreign Policy is “shameless and Bogus” and what President Mills truly deserves is an ‘A’ for doing nothing. He also asserted that the ruling NDC may be behind the publication.
In response to Sir John’s outburst, Deputy Tourism Minister, Kobby Acheampong said it is preposterous for someone to suggest that the NDC is behind the controversial publication.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News, on Tuesday, October 19, Kobby Acheampong said Sir John’s long stay in Kumasi has affected his way of thinking and his commentary on relevant national issues.
He described Sir John as an ignoramus and admonished him to broaden his horizon in order to make relevant contributions to national discourse.
“Sir John reminds me of a typical ‘cocoase Kroaseni’, (villager), I mean he stayed in Kumasi too long, he is in Accra now, he should broaden his horizon. Clearly the way he talks is of someone who is ignorant. He is talking about the fact we don’t know the Foreign Minister so there is no Foreign Policy, I mean what is the correlation, this is a typical ignoramus talking…how can the NDC be behind this, you know this man I told him that whenever he comes from Kumasi he should take a different touch or else he would be lost and now he is telling us he is lost…he should shed that image and look at things from a broader perspective”.
Kobby Acheampong also rubbished the ratings by the Africa Watch Magazine on Ghana’s politicians which has stirred a lot of controversy.
He urged publishers of the notorious Magazine to come out with a different publication explaining the criteria used in grading Ghana’s politicians.
