University Hall (Katanga) commends University authorities

The University Hall (Katanga) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has, over the years, being at the vanguard in the quest of championing the welfare of students in the university.
The hall has chalked a number of successes in this regard from being the voice behind the construction of speed rumps to check over speeding, zebra crossing in front the hall, the creation of taxi rank in front of the hall to prevent extortion from students and to thwart the activities of questionable characters among others.
The hall executives have once again earned another feather in their cup by getting the university authorities to construct a staircase at a sloppy walkway behind Unity hall dining hall.
In response to this, the executives of the hall, in a letter, have commended the authorities for heeding to their concern and pledges their support to help locate pressing situations to the relevant authorities adding that they will “rest not” in ensuring a congenial atmosphere for all students in the university.
The executives of the hall led by the secretary, Mr. Godwin Boateng Festival, on February 21, 2011 petitioned the office of the Registrar and other bodies that matter after identifying the precarious situation behind Unity hall, which according to them may culminate in fatal death if a staircase is not constructed at the place.
Acting on the letter, the authorities constructed a staircase to avert any possible disaster that may occur.
In an interview, Mr. Boateng said the hall is motivated by its philosophy enshrined in the preamble of its constitution which states that “the destiny of this university lies with solidarity and positive dynamism and for that matter in Katangeism” adding that the hall’s constitution mandates students of the hall to be each other’s keeper.
He said “as an officer of Katanga you can’t do anything aside trying to help champion the course of students and we’ve done it exceedingly well. We will continue to do it in so far as our constitution continues to instruct us to do what it sees to be the best. We would still continue to champion students’ excellence on KNUST campus.”
