Management of Samartex Timber & Plywood Co. Ltd. Supports the Chiefs and People of Omanpe in the Western Region.

The Chiefs and people of Omanpe a major cocoa producing area in the Aowin – Suaman District have expressed gratitude to Management of Samartex Timber & Plywood Company Limited for their material and financial support in assisting to develop Omanpe.

According to the Chief, Nana Gyanin II, Management of Samartex has contributed to the rehabilitation of the Chief’s palace and constructed a road from Adjoum to Omanpe at a cost of GHȼ 13,000.00.

Nana Gyanin said the Company also spent GHȼ 3,000.00 to do extension works on the Omanpe market.

In the area of Agro-Forestry, Nana Gyanin said Samartex had for the past three years nursed over 350,000 trees per year for free distribution to farmers in its operational zone including Omanpe cocoa farmers to rehabilitate degraded off-reserve forests.

Nana Gyanin also commended Management for training Omanpe farmers in the Alternative Livelihood income Generating Activities such as bee-keeping, snail-rearing, piggery and fish farming.
