Leaders of Samreboi and Abochia Communities in the Western Region have for the second time appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority to take Messrs. A. K. Ninche Company a road construction Company to task for shoddy work done on the 31km Samreboi – Abochia Feeder road.
Speaking to the press at samreboi in the Wassa Amenfi West District of the Western Region, the leaders said the Samreboi – Abochia road had hitherto been reshaped and regravelled by Samartex Timber & Plywood Company Limited because it was in its operational zone.
According to them, however, Ghana Highway Authority took over the road as part of its Feeder Road Programme and awarded the contract to Messrs. A. K. Ninche Company which started work on the 19th December, 2010 and ended abruptly in mid-January 2011.
They explained that out of a total stretch of 31km, 5km requires regravelling works but the contractor only handled 1km leaving 4km untouched.
They lamented that at the moment the road has developed big pot holes as a result of incessant rains thus making the road impassable for vehicles to ply.
They further called on Ghana Highway Authority to prevail on the Contractor to return to the site in order to complete the necessary remedial works including spot improvements on the road.
The Chief of Abochia, Nana Abiri Moro IV also reminded the Ghana Highway Authority to always involve community members on contract works relating to Feeder Road construction to avoid shoddy works by road contractors.
