Assemblymen in the Techiman North Constituency have made a strong call on the MP for the constituency, Hon. Christopher Akumfi –Ameyaw to account for funds allocated to him to the electorates.
They are also throwing a challenge to the secretariat of GetFund, Health Fund, Common Fund, HIPC Fund and Social Improvement Fund to probe the M.P for the usage of his share of those funds allocated to him.
These calls were contained in a press release signed by sixteen Assemblymen from the Techiman North Constituency. They are the Assemblymen for Bonya, Mesidan, Asueye, Akonkonti, Ayeasu/Atreansu, Tanoboase, Asubingya, Akrofrom, Adutwie, Jama, Abemagya, Zongo(Offuman),Nana Ati(Krobo),Nana Acheaw(Krobo), Zongo(Tuobodom) and Abromamu(Tuobodom).
They say the M.P has “done nothing in the constituency besides his disbursement of the funds allocated to him”.
“We, the undersigned Assembly members in the constituency have not seen any development projects initiated in our respective electoral areas since he became M.P for the constituency after the 2008 general elections”, they say, adding that of an estimated GH¢490,000.00 accruing to the constituency from the various funds, nothing significant has been done in the constituency aside some shovels and wheel barrows he procured for the Asueye community for communal labour.
As part of the litany of accusations, the Assemblymen say they have not been notified of any meeting organized by the MP during his purported tours of the constituency over the years.
“We the Assembly members have put in a mechanism to monitor him with vigorous eyes since the funds allocated to him are meant for the enhancement of the livelihood of his constituents but not for selfish interest”, the release states.
